I had having the same issue using Gutsy, currently using
2.6.22-14-generic.
I would also to add, that all my USB 2.0 devices used to work until
october 10.
I have tried the tips given here wthout success, except removing
ehci_ucd, which is not an option for big external disks.

I manually set /etc/usplash.conf from:

The xserver-xorg-video-intel_2.1.1-0ubuntu9_i386.deb solved the problem
here. No more blinking gray blocks on black screen after a simple
logout, or after resume from suspend. (My machine is a FuSi Amilo Pro
V3205, with Intel GMA950, and I'm not uing compiz.)

This occurs on one of my Compaq Presario laptop. Everything was fine
until was booted this morning and it hung at the same spot. As soon as
it assigns an IRQ it locks up tight. The only option is to turn it off.
It doesn't matter if the laptop is plugged in or not. It hangs either

Ok thanks, rhythmbox indeed uses the libtotem-plparser7 library.
Actually I had another (old, and built from sources) version of rhythmbox in my
path, which was called instead of the official rhythmbox release, and needed
the old libtotem-plparser library...

The fact is that gThumb also does that for raster images. Like I said above,
it's only noticeable in images where sharpness matters, like scanned text.

Isn't there the Tango naming convention or something to define the name
of the icons displayconfig-gtk should provide? I think Xubuntu has those

I just read both of those bugs, its not the same issue and its still present
in both x86 gutsy RC ubuntu and kubuntu and in amd64 RC bit both ubuntu and
kubuntu. For some reason either the sata interface or the scsi interface is
not reinitialized and it does not start up the drive because the line

I do confirm this Bug with gutsy RC: When knetworkmanager is set
offline, and e.g a kppp session is up and running then Konqueror is
