I can confirm that this behaviour is true but it seems likely that this

I cannot find anything similar in the KDE bug tracker. However I find

The problem with typing in a terminal was only with terminals during X.
So perhaps this was indeed a bad xorg.conf setting. Or perhaps related
to the Metacity issue.
I tried the nvidia-glx-new. It couldn't even start X. So I am back to
"nv".
I will see if the Metacity issue repeats itself in "nv"
I've been able to reproduce these results as well with my Lenovo 3000
N100.
acpi=ht caused audio output to operate normally. (i promptly near
deafened myself because the mic boost and input levels were at max, and
it caused a massive feedback loop :) )

Aha, now I understand. There is a LiveCD for Ubuntu 7.04. The wiki page
you were looking at is out of date and not especially helpful. If you go
to the main Ubuntu page here http://www.ubuntu.com/ you'll see a
download link in a big red box. If you follow that and select Ubuntu
7.04 desktop edition
I guess the error is caused by the wrong install-info script. Install-
info is also provided by TeXLive (TL) that I installed manually to have
TL 2007 and the TeXLive path is searched before the system path. I just
chmod -x the TL install-info and the upgrade process is still running.

If i boot with 2.6.20-15.27 system reboot and there is no dmesg created in

successfully for me. I do find these lines slightly odd:

I have had similar problems, namely with the first installation of Java.
It's necessary to "press" an OK button to accept Sun's licence, but it's
not possible in Adept. Synaptic doesn't have the problem. This was on
Edgy.

I found the problem, I changed the WPA Supplicant Driver under Wicd
preference to 'ndiswrapper' instead of the original 'wext', after
changing it back it works alright. But the usb wifi adapter need to be
disconnected and then reconnected again when I do a 'warm' restart. This
