manager-gnome, so for me, trying to connect to my lan during boot is

i tried "update-initramfs -u" as someone reccomended in the 81413 comments,
it seems to have brought back my usplash shutdown sequence, but not
bootup... i will keep an eye peeled for this new usplash upload.

Yes, an apt-get upgrade installed network-manager some time ago, but
this package does not seem to do anything except cause other desktop
components to stop functioning.
Perhaps network-manager should be removed from the distribution if it
cannot be made to work and only serves to break the rest o
