Public bug reported:

Sometimes (once or twice a week perhaps?), X hangs for me. I can still
move the mouse pointer around, but the rest of the screen has turned
into a screenshot. The mouse pointer doesn't change shape when I move
it over different stuff. I get no reaction from any keyboard commands
like c-a-backspace or c-a-f1.

When this happens I can ssh in from another system and do "killall -9
Xorg". That makes gdb re-start the X server and everything is back to
normal.

I get this in my kernel.log when this happens:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/log # grep NVRM kern.log*|grep -v loading
kern.log:Feb 6 10:04:53 localhost kernel: [17617098.708000] NVRM: Xid
(0001:00): 6, PE0000 0480 ff1076ff 0000f304 ff2299ff ff0055ff
kern.log:Feb 7 08:28:54 localhost kernel: [17697732.116000] NVRM: Xid
(0001:00): 6, PE0000 041c ff0055ff 0000fdbc ff2299ff ff2299ff

This could potentially be a duplicate of bug 58019, but they don't
mention any kernel messages in there, and I haven't seen any WAIT
messages in my Xorg logs.
