I'm seeing the same boot failure issue, but with a slightly different
setup.
Dapper 6.06 Kubuntu
SATA /dev/sda1 and /dev/sda2 have RAID 1 /dev/md0 installed with LVM on
top.
The BIOS can set these to 0x80 and lilo is happy with this. Boots every
time.
Added 2 x IDE drives as /dev/hda and /dev/h

Apparently aesthetics doesn't matter. Once again, the default theme
should attempt to be aesthetically pleasing and functional for a given
target audience (yet to be defined.)
Since free software is infinitely customizable, I suggest that the user
apply their own theme to meet their needs.

On further investigation, the group given to /var/run/qpsmtpd by this
package-from-debian in dapper+edgy+feisty is actually "adm" and not
"qpsmtpd" (Not sure how I made that mistake!).
The debian/qpsmtpd.postinst uses:-

I did some more debugging and found out that if I remove all lines from
/etc/network/interfaces, the boot is *much* faster. The dhclient.conf
timeout doesn't improve the situation at all, but the boot is stalled
because Ubuntu puts a couple of interfaces in the network config. I'm
using networkmana

I restarted from the CD and the fat32 partition was marked as
unaccessible. So I re-ran the installation, this time ensuring that the
fat32 partition was not in the list of mounts.

Do you still have that bug. Did you do any change to activate capslock
on boot by some way? What gdm theme do you use? Do you boot with the
graphical splash screen? When pressing during caps lock the boot, on an
edgy installation on my laptop, there is no message about caps lock on
the gdm screen
The "set" I used was a past participle, to say what changes I had made to the

There are several bugs, not just one.
1. When fschk checks FAT/FAT32 partititions, it tries to fix non-existant
errors. I claims that many files are cross-linked and fixes them by
truncating them. Thus, it destroys the correct files!!!
2. There is no EASY way for the user to stop/disable this che

I downloaded and installed Feisty Fawn Herd1, my graphic card is a Nvidia
Geforce FX5500 supported for the 2D by the free "nv" driver.
When I first booted the system I saw that Xorg is using vesa for that card, I
manually updated the xorg.c
I have not disected it yet but something was wrong with it cause a clean
sources.list fixed it promptly as i expected but sometime after the
holidays i will look into it more and see what i can find.

After the first update for Ubuntu Feisty Alpha, on a Laptop Acer Aspire
3004 NMLi, the splash screen freeze, and nothing work (Ctrl+Alt+F1, for
exemple), no errors messages displayed, but, after minutes a screen
appears with this error:

As you said, it is "easy to spot though and marking them take like a
minute". I guess you can manage more than 300 duplicates in 2 months
easily too like the ekiga dev team is currently doing. Right ?

This has not been fixed in edgy either, wounder why it's marked as fixed.
perhaps it works for people not using LVM, I'd expect people to use LVM with
the "server" version
