Thanks for the update Jouke74. If things are working fine for you with
Hardy it sounds perfectly reasonable to stick with it and no need to
test Intrepid. We'll keep this open for a little while longer just in
case anyone else is able to test. Thanks.

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

Okay, compiling Ndiswrapper 1.42 and installing it for 2.6.15 fixes it.
My problem was confirmed to be related to bug #83479.

I have the same symptoms, although with a different chipset, ACX111
using ndiswrapper 1.9. Wireless with WPA only works intermittently since
upgrading from 2.6.20.9 to 2.6.20.10 onwards, up to .15. I haven't tried
upgrading ndiswrapper yet (1.42 now) as Paulo suggested, going to do
that soon.

I use gnome-network-manager at first time with kernel 2.6.20-8. Since
then, a just had to reinstall ndiswrapper manually.

I am sure with time I can make it work manually with WPA also, but I don't know
how to edit the interfaces file the right way.
Did you use gnome-network-manager? Or configured it manually / another way?

I had the same problem after upgrading from 2.6.20-9. It was resolved on
2.6.20-14 with Ndiswrapper 1.41 installed from the source tarball ( sudo
make uninstall, make, sudo make install). After upgrade to 2.6.20-15 I
had to repeat the proceeding. It is working with WPA on my Broadcom

@Jouke74: can you please attach here a 'sudo lspci -v'?
Also, does it work with the current kernel (2.6.20-15)?

Tim, I would really like to use bcm43xx, but the 4318 implementation is
still sort of limited.
@Jouke74: I cannot reproduce this error anymore. If you still have it,

I would love to use that, but the chipset is not Broadcom = Asus WL-138g
v2, but Marvell = Asus WL-138g v1. Marvell has no Linux drivers for this
chipset as far as I can see. Neither has Asus.

Hum. Interesting. Since going to 2.6.20-13 & companion upgrades I was
also experiencing this problem, in fact even worse: I could not connect
even via wired after failing the wireless (and had to reboot my access

So I went to reboot to collect brand new data and... fo
