Problem resolved. Logging out and back in fixed the issue. I know for
certain that gwibber-services wasn't running when I wrote the last
message. Something was preventing gwibber from starting.
Since I have completely new config files at this point, I don't know the
root cause of my problems.
Kevin, please check if you have an gwibber-service running in
background, if not please run "pkill gwibber-service" and then "gwibber-
service -d -o", after that try to start gwibber again.

I removed .cache/gwibber and .config/gwibber as you suggested.
Now Gwibber won't start at all. I purged gwibber and gwibber-themes.
Removed all references I could find to gwibber in my home directory
(this included .config/gwibber, .cache/gwibber, and everything related
to gwibber in .gconf/.

of things not working, I decided to remove all but the minimum system
and reinstall everything. I now have none of the problems I had and
everything I use is working correctly (accept Last.fm, in which a bug
