Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue
for you? Is this still an issue with Karmic ? Thanks in advance.

I can confirm the bug with Evolution/2.22.3 on Hardy.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to debug Evolution with the above steps.
This runs on a german Exchange server and Ubuntu system.
** Summary changed:
- Cannot subscribe to exchange shared folders / calender in edgy
+ Cannot subscribe to exchange
Changing "Calendar" to "Kalender" was a quite simple task. For there is
a box, right beneath the username. :-)
However I still ran into another problem.
But finaly I was able to subscribe to the other users folder.
To share this information with you I wrote a little text, about the three
problem
That is an interesting point, depending on how the data store is setup it
could be problematic if the directory that Evolution is looking for does not
exists (or is just named differently). I wonder if it would it be possible
to add a DNS entry that redirected the call from evolution for
/exchange
I think i found out, what the problem is in my case:
Running evolution in debugmode, using
env E2K_DEBUG=5 evolution >& evo.log
i was able to see, the request to the owa servers team-calendar is
performed using the following directory:
/exchange/teamboxname/Calendar
which is wrong, for we have
I already gave it a shot with the nslookup on the linux box...same
results as windows. Tried the other suggestions, and pretty much the
same results as Jochen. This issue has been around since Feisty,
looking at post prior to the release of Hardy, Novel was aware of the
bug and planned to address

It's the very same problem for me. (Ubuntu Hardy).
Putting the domain names into /etc/hosts did not do the job, as well as
putting them into /etc/resolv.conf :-/
Tcpdump shows me some failed queries, though they apear on startup of
evolution. Not when acually trying to add an other users folder
I did both of your suggestions, both come back with "domain.org". Here is
what I get (ignore the VM info, I'm pulling this from my windows VM, however
I did try both on a stand alone workstation with the same results).
*>nslookup exchangefrontend
Server: domaincontroler.domain.org

Yes you are correct... I don't get the GAL information but all my calendar
objects and email and stuff work just fine. We are using SBS 2003 so our
Exchange server is the same as our DC.
I do have a Windows Smart Phone (Motorola Q) and using the same information
as plugged in to Evo, I get the GAL
hmmm, what I did now is just setting the machine domain (there is an
option in the administration menu in Ubuntu to do this) to be the same
as the full domain name of windows - and now I have removed the
/etc/hosts entries and for me it's still working.
lilbudda - I never tried using Evo with exte
I am not onsite with the server. I am using the external OWA URL

Hi Pawel,
I will try your work when I am onsite with the Exchange server and see if
that clears things up. However, one of the nice things about Evolution is
having a fully functional Exchange client when not connected to the LAN. I too
can connect https://OWA/exchange/other-mailbox/calenda
I have also tried this:
X.X.X.X localhost
X.X.X.X user-laptop
X.X.X.X exchangefrontend
X.X.X.X domaincontroler
X.X.X.X domaincontroler2
X.X.X.X exchangefrontend.domain.org
X.X.X.X domaincontroler.domain.org
X.X.X.X domaincontroler2.domain.org
Same deal. Running Hardy with 2.22.1-0ubuntu1

Could you please post an example of your /etc/hosts, to confirm that this
solution actually works? Here is what I have:
X.X.X.X localhost
X.X.X.X user-laptop
X.X.X.Xexchangefrontend.domain.org
X.X.X.X domaincontroler.domain.org
X.X.X.X domaincontroler2.domain.org
Is that correct? Still no ch
Ok, I found a solution - this may be silly, but works. I have added ip
addresses and host names of:
- exchange OWA server
- primary DC
- secondary DC
(last two for compatibility with GAL).
to /etc/hosts . I've done two entries for each of them ( one with the
sole host name, the other one as a ful
Hi,
I observe exactly the same symptoms - when I try subscribing to another
person folder, I cannot access it because of "generic error". I have
"full mailbox rights" to that other mailbox, so I don't have problems
accessing it as http://exchange_server/exchange/other-mailbox using my
own login cr
I see the same symptoms as Francis, it is proving hard to get a
repeatable case. I'll post as soon as I get one.
Question - shared calendars that are group aliases.
One scenario I *would* like to work and does not (even in OWA) is a
subscription to a shared calendar - where the calender is a dist
This bug seems to behave better than before. Sometimes you can subscribe to
shared exchange calenders. But sometimes it either gives a "generic error"
message or it subscribes to it but cannot check the box to enable the viewing
of the calender.
