Same problem here.
I just upgraded from jaunty. Now with 9.10 I first get the Ubuntu logo (guess
for some reason Ubuntu now boots a bit like Vista). Then I get a text screen
which waits for a very long time

On an Aspire One ZG5 with the stock 8GB SSD.
Under UNR 9.04 it took less than 1 minutes to cold boot and have Firefox
Loaded.
Now with UNR 9.10, it take close to 2 minutes just to cold boot to the
desktop.

Please be aware that in Jaunty, bootchart would only log until the gnome
login started. In Karmic, bootchart logs until the gnome login starts,
and then keeps logging for an additional 45 seconds.

Very similar issue regarding slow boot times.
Jaunty booted in 14 seconds. Since updating to Karmic, my boot time now
comes in at around 1 minute 3 seconds.
