After many moons, I realized I had upgraded to a new bios that supports
SATA raid better under vista. Bios V3.10 I believe. Backdating to the
previous release fix the problem and allowed for a full install to run.
Had the same problem re-occurr when the mainboard was replaced recently

I have been experiencing a similar issue on a Toshiba 335CDS laptop trying to
run Fluxbuntu. As with you, the install went fine but booting from hard drive
results in a drop to busybox with a complaint that the UUID of the root
filesystem does not exist.

Just wondering if I need to provide any additional information to get
this resolved. If so can you please let me know. I would really like
to get 8.04 installed on this laptop.

Hi,
Can you please tell us what the contents of your /etc/fstab file
are, it sounds like the modifications you made in there may
be incorrect.
It does sound like there is an underlying bug here, but lets
make sure that we are not making it worse first.
Thanks,

Do you have any suggestions on how I can get 8,04 to work on the laptop?
Ever since 6.10, Ubuntu has not liked the SATA chipset that is in the
laptop.

The error is
Check root=bootarg cat /proc/cmdline
or missing modules, devices: cat /proc/modules ls /dev
Alert! /dev/sda6 does not exist. Dropping to a shell! (this was
originally a uuid, but I have been messing with it to try and get it working)
then BusyBox v1.1.3 starts.

Alrighty, it's 8.04 launch day. I grabbed a good copy of the new iso
from the net, burned it to a cd and checked to make sure it was a good
cd. Did the install and rebooted. Same thing happened again this time
except that it just dropped into busybox without any message.
I rebooted and started
