I have been experiencing a similar issue on a Toshiba 335CDS laptop trying to
run Fluxbuntu. As with you, the install went fine but booting from hard drive
results in a drop to busybox with a complaint that the UUID of the root
filesystem does not exist.

The info at
http://sudan.ubuntuforums.com/showthread.php?t=720093&s=a900252509f2ec0172617cfd10fec476&;
seemed relevant, as it also featured a Toshiba laptop.

I was able to use a modified version of the advice on that page to get
the laptop working, by forcing an include of the ide-generic module at
startup as follows:

[These instructions are specific to Fluxbuntu, see the original link for other
variants.]
1) cd /etc/initramfs-tools
2) sudo cp modules modules.backup
3) sudo leafpad modules
3a) In leafpad, add the line 'ide-generic' at the end of the commented section
(last line), save and quit
4) sudo update-initramfs -uv

After that, it boots without trouble.

Several reports exist of this type of problem with Toshiba laptops, you
can see some at:

It is a real bug that seems to have existed for a while.
