This is the code of my backported tc1100-wmi module (it comes form a
vanilla 2.6.27). Many thanks to Carlos and his kindness, because he
explained me the easy way to achieve this result. I haven't already
setup a package into my ppa. Sorry, I promise that in the near future
this will be done. For n
I've done a backport of tc1100-wmi.c from 2.6.27 to 2.6.24. As Carlos
Corbacho suggested, I've exploited the acer-wmi.c to remap the wmi
functions of tc1100-wmi.c. I've tested on my hardware and works. I'll
publish the source and a precompiled module on my ppa as soon as
possible.

Sorry, a correction to my previous comment: after reloading tc1100-wmi,
the jogdial setting works, but wireless remains on regardless.

For me, changing the settings with kernel 2.6.27-7-generic has no effect
- the 'echo' to /sys/devices/platform/tc1100-wmi/jogdial or /wireless
works, but 'cat' reveals no change (the values are always 0), wireless
stays on, brightness stays un-adjustable.

Per the last few comments I'm marking this "Fix Released" for Intrepid.
I'll open a nomination for Hardy for the kernel team to consider
backporting. Thanks.

Also for me this module works good on Intrepid A5. There is a
possibility to backport this module to an Hardy kernel?

I have just tested this on 2.6.27-3-generic, using Intrepid Ibex --
everything works wonderfully after the standard modprobe tc1100--wmi.

tc1100-wmi hasn't been touched by me since it was merged in 2.6.25, so
if something is broken in it, it will still be very much broken in
2.6.28.
I don't own the hardware, so working on tc1100-wmi has always been
tricky for me. If you have bugs with it, please report them directly to
me (I only ca
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:
1) If you are comfortable
2.6.25 works OK, but the state of the WiFi switch is always "0" when
queried with "cat /sys/devices/platform/tc1100-wmi/wireless" - this
seems like a bug in the driver and a regression from 2.6.22, but it's
bearable for the time being.

I just wanted to let you know the Intrepid Ibex 8.10 is now available
for testing. It was most recently rebased with the upstream 2.6.25
kernel and is currently available in the following PPA:

If you are not familiar with how to install packages fr
This new TC1100 driver depends on the WMI mapper added in 2.6.25. The
old out-of-tree driver doesn't work with 2.6.23 and above (it can be
trivially fixed to compile, but for some reason it doesn't create the
files in /proc/acpi/wmi, only the /proc/acpi/wmi directory).
It seems that unless someone
Hi Andrew,
Looks like this driver was recently merged into the upstream mainline
kernel. I'm adding the git commit id and description for the kernel
team to reference. Thanks.
