Most Icons Missing In KDE4 Kickoff Menu After Menu Update

I have nearly the same failure like klerfayt, but I also miss the categories
under games. So all category icons but education are missing and replaced by
question marks (in KDE4.1.1).
I have KDE 4.1.1 and KDE3.5.9 installed on a 64bit architecture.
A new testuser has also the same problem. I trie
kde4.1 beta2. I followed the instructions @ kubuntu.org and so won't
reopen anything here, but I though it's worth mentioning. I have
question marks in following submenus:
Games
Graphics
Internet --> More Applications
Lost & Found
Multimedia
Office
Settings
System
Utilities

I have a problem which is maybe related to this.
Since I upgraded to KDE4 on Gutsy, I can e.g. not find konqueror from
KDE4 in kickoff.
By typing "konqueror" in the search box, it finds "Konqueror Webbrowser
(KDE3)" and "Konqueror Webbrowser (KDE4)", but nothing happens when I

I can confirm Jeremy's find, and after the last couple of updates I've
found this:
1. The cut-and-paste method or drag-and-drop with shift has so far not caused
any problems for me
2. Just changing the icon is not a problem anymore either.
3. Changing the comment or description: I tend to get t
I might have figured something out!
If I move an icon within kmenuedit by rightclicking it then clicking
paste, it's working just like it should be.
If I move an icon by dragging it with my left mouse button to another
location, that seems to be when this bug manifests itself.
Can anyone else co

when I used Konqueror to navigate to "applications:/" (I think that was

I get when I click Kickoff or view kmenuedit.
Could applications:/ not syncing to the kickoff menu be the problem?

I can confirm this bug, although it is somewhat hard to reproduce on my
setup. It's a bit of a hit and miss affair whether the menu entry ends
up in lost and found or not, and I have not been able to find or see a
common denominator. When I edited the entry for sweeper, it ended up in

To help us fix this problem, I started a fresh install of Ubuntu 7.10. I
then installed kubuntu-desktop and all of its dependencies, and finally
I installed KDE4. After I installed all of that, I tested the menu
editing. Here is what I found out that should help you pinpoint the
cause.

KDE 4.0.2 didn't solve this problem, now it's worse, on top of the icon
disappearing when you edit an entry, it also moves it to Lost & Found

I wiped my hard drives on my PC, now I am using an Ubuntu/Kubuntu-KDE4
combination with Hardy. I have more screenshots and information in this

There are two versions of kmenuedit on my system. One for KDE4 and KDE3.
I can easily tell the difference, as the KDE4 version uses the Oxygen
