After receiving this comment by email, I decided to try it out again
since it had been months since I had done so.
I am pleased to announce that I was able to capture sound with the line-
in and to record it using Audacity.
Good jobs guys. This was the only reason I was still using Windows. (was
Over 3 months with no response. We are closing this bug report because
it is not verified to exist on the current kernel, as described in the
previous comments. Please reopen it if you can verify this bug on the
current kernel, and don't hesitate to submit bug reports in the future.

I am running Ubuntu 7.10 and I am also unable to capture any sound from
the line-in/mic/Optical-in on my Audigy 2 ZS Notebook
Alsa drivers are properly selected. I can listen to music threw the
sound card. It is also configured to be default the default sound card.

Strangely enough, it stopped working after two days and I can not get it
working again. As I have a WindowsXP partition on the same machine,
maybe it depends on Windows settings some magic flags or crashing while
the sound is active...

I've got the same problem with a Realtek ALC861 on a Toshiba A7. I got
it somehow fixed by doing this:
1. disable "full duplex" of "artsd" (full duplex sound still works)
2. unload/load the driver. This is done by
a) stopping the sl-modem
b) stopping artsd
c) unloading the module
d) loading the

I can confirm this bug, on the same card. My laptop is an Acer Aspire
3200 with a SiS chipset and Realtek built-in audio. Eugene Gavrilov of
