I was able to fix my issue by force removing openssl (dpkg --remove
--force-remove-reinstreq --force-depends openssl), purging the config
files, and reinstalling. I had to also reinstall everything that
depended on openssl, but I found instructions on how to do that before I
did the force removal.

the screen and it also does not properly respond to right and left click, it

The design decision to remove support for the options are undermining the
effort by developers who put it there and the whole (IMHO correct) thought
process behind their work.
The incorrect design decision is taking away my *freedom* to use these options

So this is what happened, I just plugged in my headphones, and even though
before when I was using the volume was up almost full, the volume went to mute,
then I turned up the volume, and when I switched back to my normal speakers,

@Tim, yes, I have been using Ubuntu for a long time now, and I have only
recently switched to Gnome. And before I had Gnome, I had Unity, and
nothing like this ever happened, and only started happening when I got
Gnome.

Although that was in Gnome 3.14, the issue is still present in Gnome
3.16.
