Yes, I am posting this as a bug (already browsed extensively the forums
for support). Of course, if this isn't a wide-spread issue or if it's
specific only to this specific mouse model, I can understand if it's not
going to be prioritized.
(And no, not going to re-install the OS just to fix a mous
To add to the above something I forgot to mention: the mouse I normally use is
a Logitech M705 wireless. If I start with the mouse turned off and with a
simple wired mouse plugged in, the mouse behaves OK. I can then start the M705
wireless mouse and it will work a bit better (i.e. not working f
I tried the 'sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall' recommendation from the
thread that was linked here, but it didn't work in my case.
The behaviour is erratic. Sometimes a reboot would help, though mostly
not. Sometimes the applications bar is responsive (can start
applications), other times it's not.

Good news: I have updated the BIOS and now the suspend/resume works
again! Thank you!
At least I think it was the BIOS. I did perform a Ubuntu update one of
the past days out of habit - I should not have done it, to make sure
that only one thing is changed in the system - sorry for that.
Anyway,
Quick update: The BIOS download links on the Intel site are broken. I've
reported the issue to their support, waiting now for them to be fixed.
When they are, I'll do the upgrade and report it here.

Hi,
The motherboard is an Intel DH77DF (sorry, not a Gigabyte as incorrectly
wrote in the other post). The CPU is an Intel Core i7 3770K.
The dmidecode commands don't do anything. Running it without parameter gives:

Christopher. Thank you for the prompt reaction. I've submitted a
separate bug (#1417220) and subscribed you to it.

I am encountering a similar issue. It occured after an upgrade from
Ubuntu 12 to Ubuntu 14. Since the upgrade, the suspend/resume doesn't
work anymore.
I'm not sure what additional information you need (e.g. what details
about the hardware) - let me know how I can help. It is a self-built

I too have the same problem. I edited the setting to point instead to
/usr/lib/firefox-3.0.5/firefox.sh.
That got rid of all error messages but nothing happens. I suspect that I have
not given it the permissions yet so I am going to do that right after I log off
here.

I have been using "ugly workaround" (-B 254) since Hardy Alpha5.
Recently - with Beta, I tried hibernation on my laptop. After resuming
disk head was ticking again and the Load_Cycle_Count started increasing.
I checked and /etc/acpi/resume.d/
