Same here, and it happens with all sorts of applications - though I don't have a clear reproductible procedure. It seems to happen especially when switching fast between applications or workspaces.
Usually I loose one application/window, but just now I lost them ALL, across ALL workspaces. I can switch between workspaces, but I see no windows (ALT+TAB, Win+W). Besides switching workspaces I can't do anything else, no system menus respond, I can't start anything from the Launcher (even if I use the middle button, to start a new copy of an app). The Win and ALT keys don't do anything, there is no menu popping up. Actually, when I press Win+W there is one effect: the taskbar will say "Ubuntu Desktop", but that's all. CTRL+ALT+Backspace doesn't do anything (I think it was supposed to kill X, right?). I can ssh into the box from another machine, I can also do CTRL+ALT+F2. I tried "init 3" and then "init 4", but it didn't restart X as I expected and the GUI is still unusable. Please advise what debugging information do you need. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1003057 Title: Windows disappear unexpectedly when switching application To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dia/+bug/1003057/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
