gfortran and libgfortran3 are installed but they do not contain libg2c.
I have code which has libg2c as a dependancy, which package contains

I can confirm this as well. However, I got this behaviour by going in
the reverse direction. ie., I started out with a Gnome ubuntu-desktop
install, and later install kubuntu-desktop. This caused the programs
listed in the report to show up in my Sessions applet.

I also had a notebook hard drive just die. It was a Samsung in a
Dell XPS M1330. I am not saying that because the hard drive died, and I

While this is well reported I just wanted to note I experience the exact
same behaviour in Gutsy using the Xubuntu live disk. Re-enabling the
onboard and switching over seems to be the only solution. The
installation halts and will not even allow switching over to another
terminal so it is impossi

backed him. It's definitely true that we want the head to park as soon
as possible after there is no activity. But for some reason Ubuntu is
unparking the head, doing something for a split second, and reparking
the head at a cons
I just want to chime in with all the others that are frustrated this is
listed as "wishlist". I know a quick triager may have just skimmed and
not noticed the importance. But, now that this is getting more
attention from people affected, it's clear this is a critical priority

I can confirm this bug also. Worst of all, I'm using the Gutsy RC. I
think one of the reasons this isn't reported very often is that its hard
to tell its going on unless you're in a quiet room. For me, adding
"sudo hdparm -B254 /dev/sda" to my rc.local made this excessive parking

On an HP DV6000t with a Geforce Go 7400 this kills the X config as well.
I fixed the dead X config by reverting back to the old generic config
that nvidia-glx-config saves. Then, instead of running "nvidia-glx-
config enable" I ran "nvidia-xconfig" which worked like a charm,
preserved my X config,
