I fixed this error by updating my BIOS. Weird - I didn't have this issue
with prior versions including 16.04.4 but when I also tried 16.04.4, I
got the same problem. I might have been using an earlier 16.04.x where
this wasn't an issue. But again, in the end, the BIOS did the trick.

Yea I don't use cairo dock and have the problem.
Also when am on Ethernet (not using wifi), I suspend and when resume the
ethernet won't re-connect and the fancy shutdown dialog appears to stop
working.

This not about "suggestions" included in the home lens all the time.
The topic at hand is "Search results". They are not smart because
they're not returning anything useful to the user when you type in
Steam, Gimp, chromium

I was able to confirm the lockups happening also on an AMD/ATI laptop.
However, I get much more lockups on the Intel.
So anyone else experienced this or reported it? Else I'll go my way and
report this soon.

I have this problem, but I've also seen the UI freezing or locking up
(most of the time) when you minimize applications. If you press Alt +
Ctrl + Del and get the shutdown diag, it goes back to normal.
I wonder if it's part of the same bug or a different one?

When searching from the dash for example "Skype" and is not installed I
don't get the recommendations to install it from the "apps available for
download" in the home/main lens. I only get an empty search.
But when I do the same in the Apps-lens you do get the recommendations.

but those 2 seconds go extremely fast...
i know where it is and even i miss it (yes even by staring at it).
the problem is when a window opens people focus their eyes on the window
and not the top bar. When they focus the top bar the 2 seco
weird the recycle bin still has color.

actually i think you were confusing the various designs. The one in
comment #106 is persistent on button click (button could be small
windicator or app name, not the full titlebar itself). Mousing over the
title bar could create false positives in this design. Mouse over is
only good if its
would also add that having a visible cue like a tab makes it more
intuitive.
