Sorry for the late reply. I've installed 12.04 on a variety of different
hardware, and haven't observed the bug on any of those. So for all I
know, it seems resolved, and if no one else claims it, looks like it can
be closed.

I tried rebooting and instead of running the installer from the LiveCD I
ran the installer directly from the boot menu and it works. Alternate
installer also works. Going to try again from the LiveCD when I get home
tonight. I also tried burning a new copy and checking the media.

Trying to install Ubuntu 11.10 on my computer this evening and found
that after choosing the language, enabling download updates and third-
party software, the installer basically slows to a stop during this. No
apparent activity or anything. It just stops.

but it's rather large..

I ran into this yesterday on Kubuntu 10.10 running the generic kernel.
Adding nolapic_timer to the boot arguments does not help at all,
additionally the grub splashscreen does not appear. Any information or
testing I can do to help troubleshoot it?

What is the output of the 'route' command on your system? I have a similar
issue, and for whatever reason, there was no 'default' entry in the route
table. The short-term solution for me is to run
sudo route add default gw

I believe I have the same issue as Ype. My fresh jaunty install was
working fine until some point recently when it can't connect to anything
outside the local network.
Ping works locally, but ping www.ubuntu.com gives 'connect: Network is
unreachable'
DHCP lookups are working, via the router,
I can report this problem no longer exists with 9.04/Jaunty.
I have Jaunty running on the same machine as before, and compiz is
supported. Also with a later version of the application (Wikidpad
2.03b), compiz restarts fine with this application in minimise-to-tray
mode.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I can't be of much further help here
- I've been a bit unlucky with hardware (graphics card) failures
recently and neither of my ubuntu machines can support compiz now
anyway, with or without wikidpad!
