The problem is that I can't post any log file with the error; during a
failed boot no information is logged in Xorg.0.log: I followed this
procedure:
removed xserver-xorg-video-radeon
rebooted
it boots normally
sudo rm /var/log/Xorg.0.log*
install xserver-xorg-video-radeon
reboot
freeze
push reset
Some news: removing xserver-xorg-video-radeon let kdm to start but with
resolution of 1280x1024 instead of 1680x1050

Same error for me. I have an Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 with a sata II hard
disk and a pata dvd writer on ide1.
The motherborad mounts a JMicron 20360/20363 AHCI Controller, but I
don't know wich controller the hard disk uses.
