The problem is that I can't post any log file with the error; during a failed boot no information is logged in Xorg.0.log: I followed this procedure:
removed xserver-xorg-video-radeon rebooted it boots normally sudo rm /var/log/Xorg.0.log* install xserver-xorg-video-radeon reboot freeze push reset button on case boot in failsafe mode open a root shell no Xorg.0.log file in /var/log In the wiki you have linked is explained how use gdb to get a backtrace using ssh from another computer, but I have only one. But if there are different possibilities I am ready to follow them.
