Public bug reported:
After clicked the 'end session' button to make a new login, the monitor shows,
in the order:
- the kubuntu boot splash logo with a empty progress bar
- a black screen with a blinking underscore
To recover, i start a new console login session with CTRL+ALT+F1 and then
sudo /etc/init.d/kdm restart
