Sorry, I no longer have a setup anywhere close to where I was having the
problem. I now run Debian Squeeze on my main computer (the one that had
Kubuntu on it when I was having the problem) and the other computer was
taken apart and reused as a server. Trying to replicate the setup would

I went to system settings desktop and unchecked Enable desktop effects.
I noticed in advanced session manager I had kwin instead of compiz
selected for my window manager so I changed that to compiz as well. I
logged out/in and disabled one of my monitors, but still had the same
bug.

With compiz on using kde4;
The konsole would not always show me new text. So if I did cd /home I
might see

Sorry about taking so long, my laptop`s screen does not work without the
nvidia driver (I don`t see any bootup the screen starts up on the login
screen), so I had to plug in a monitor. Anyway I removed the sources
(sources manager thingy). Removed the driver and did apt-get clean.

Synergyc seems to do this in debian systems as well. I run debian lenny
(also etch when it was testing) and synergyc has done this as long as I
can remember.
