When I want to be offline for certain user, I right click on that user
and select "Appear Offline" option. After this, I should be "invisible"

I have read about BIOS configuration, but I do not have any of googled options

Hmm I really do not know anything about celestia, but I do not agree
with you that this bug affects a small percentage of users. I think it
affect all nVidia users using compiz. I would guess vast majority uses
compiz and vast majority has nVidia graphic card (my opinion)

cpu load. playing mp3 eats 15 % (pulseaudio).
what's more interesting is, that CPU (when watching movies fullhd - but
accelerated via gpu) is on 100% (mostly user space) even if sum of cpu
processes via top show no more then 3
So, I am back. It took me little longer to make my final test. I tried
to run 5.1 surround at my friend's PC (he has the same motherboard - and
so the same onboard sound card). He had the same problem as me, so we
can definitely exclude some HW issues. This could be driver or
pulseaudio...

Hi, after new inwstall of Ubuntu Karmic Koala I have noticed several
problems with my sound.
First, problem of overmodulated sound (buggy setting in sound - also in
pavucontrol) mentioned in:

debugging measure you say:)? do not understand it. but i found this out:
when sliders are set to "Base" level in volume control, only 2 right
speakers stutter, but over value "Base" up all 6 stutter:(

I have tried this:
pulseaudio -k && PULSE_NO_SIMD=1 pulseaudio
and bad e-guitar effect dissappeard! (even if slides are over "Base" value on
"Max")
But my stuttering effect increase to all 6 speakers (channels) like a virus now

I actually do now know what is it PULSE_NO_SIMD... I googled it, and found out
its env variable? If correct, my system does not have it:
echo $PULSE_NO_SIMD
(nothing)
Should I set it when starting my user session or /etc/bash.bashrc?

yes, I have tryed, but still nothing (stuttering on whole right side o 5.1 &
sound like bad e-guitar if slider is over "Base" value). If some screenshots
can help you, or further explanation, let me know...

O solved, touch this: new pulseaudio (20):
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-audio-dev/+archive/ppa
Click at "Technical details about this PPA" and install pulseaudio for
update. this works for me - after restart (not just pulse restart).
I still have lots of 5.1 surround problem with pulseaudio
I have KKoala, 64 bit, and no sound in Flash too. I am not interested in
removing pulseaudio.
Guys, pls stop telling here, it works with the trick in alsamixer - this drives
me crazy (really funny). Lets pretend, we all know how to put volume level to
100%.

I have createive 5.1 on ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala. After pure formatting the
drive I've installed it. I have these serious problem:
1. my center speaker is somehow switched with rear left - and I am not able to
switch it correctly (ex
as well here. what the just happened to 5.1 surround in koala?
i have set up analog surround 5.1 output instead i have set up analog surround
5.1 output + Analog Stereo Input (I do not now the difference)
I see no gui for controling volume for each repro. all I can see is balance,
fade and subwoo
... have no words for this...
