installed and it's the main environment I use.
The machine is remote, so I use it via VNC with resumable sessions.
The desktop icons (Home, Filesystem, Devices, Floppy, et

in any way. it's just the gui app not showing anything.

What I experience is: open synaptic, filter the list by "status" (ie.
installed, not installed, etc.) and "installed". i see a list of all installed
packages, but unsorted (or not sorted by the package name, to say the le

I have experienced this many times: when the notification of updates appears on
the taskbar/tray, I sometimes double-click it to open up the update manager (as
in my experience, double clicking is the most frequent way of restoring
since a while, it now runs much better. i remember there were some updates to
update-manager, maybe that solved it. or a kernel update, or something. don't
know.
