"This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue?"

LOL, no activity? Seriously? And telling this to me? What activity would
you explain from me? I thought, it's your (or someone else's) job to
make some activity, after a bug has been reported... And why would it
not be an issue anymore, if there were no activites? Do bugs just
disappear by themselves, or what?

And why you ask me for further testing? Am i the only one with an AMD
processor with L3 cache on the whole world?

Sorry, I can not test the new prealpha-whatever release ISO. I am running 9.10
since then, i can run tests on this and report, but that's all.
I tried the above command, but it spit out tons of error messages (something
with epiphany, wtf?), then opened launchpad in firefox and wanted me to log in
and specify what privileges apport-collect is going to have, i gave it
read-non-private-data, after which the terminal gave another burst of errors.
when reading back, i found it mentionong i should have given change-anything
rights. So i deleted the mentioned credentials file and wanted to start all
over, but it didn't ask for the privileges anymore. So i deleted the privileges
on launchpad (from within firefox), but this only made things worse. This stuff
is a real PITA. I'm not doing this.
Since then i changed to a Phenom II X4 940, which also happen to have a L3
cache, and which is also not displayed by anything, as stated in the original
post.
So yes, this is still an issue.
I hope someone will send you more detailed logs.
Regards,
bsh
