Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pavucontrol
The ESI U46SE is an external usb sound device with 6 outputs and 4 inputs (3x stereou outputs and 2x stereo inputs, or 6x mono outputs and 4x monou inputs) The device is recognized as a 5.1 "home theater" sound card, which is wrong. This device has nothing to do with such devices, the only common thing is both have 6 output channels ("5.1"). But there is no 5.1 or dolby dts or whatever decoders. In pulse audio (systemwide), there are only 4.0, 4.1, 5.0, 5.1 configurations (with the addition of digital inputs and outputs, which this device doesn't have either) This device should have configurations with 3 stereo outputs and 4 stereo inputs instead, so for example, one application would use output 1-2, the other could use output 3-4, and a third one could use output 5-6, also all three stereo channels separately, and not in a 5.1-like configuration.
