I dist-upgraded to Intrepid from Hardy. Boot would hang immediately
after the usplash progress bar stopped 'bouncing' and started counting
up. Removing 'splash' from kernel options allowed boot to complete;
installing v86d fixed the problem altogether.
This is with the nvidia driver, if that means
I can't duplicate this in Intrepid after recreating the situation that
exposed the original problem. Since we don't have any reports of this
post-Hardy, I think we can safely assume that the problem has been fixed
by the move to GIO/GVFS. I'm marking this 'Fixed Released'.

Not quite the same on Hardy.
1. In the Computer view, select a removable volume and look in the File
menu. The Eject or Unmount option should be present, and should act on
the selected removable volume. That's not the case on Hardy; needs
fixing.

Going from kernel 2.6.24-15-generic to 2.6.24-16-generic, boot now
hangs at Loading Hardware Drivers.
Message on the console is "hda_codec - Unknown model for ALC883, trying
to auto-probe from BIOS", after which the boot hangs.
That message is present in the older -15
It's hanging at Loading Hardware Drivers with the message:
"hda_codec - Unknown model for ALC883, trying to auto-probe from BIOS"
You can see this by editing the grub boot line for the kernel and
removing the 'quiet' and 'splash' kernel parameters

Same thing happens with a VMWare image when it is cloned. A new MAC
address gets generated, the new interface is created by udev, and the
old (stale) eth0 sits there for all time. The result is that the newly
cloned VM can't access the network until 70-persistent-net.rules is
manually fixed.

Essentially, if there's an SRV record being published on the LAN for a
local web site, and the SRV record points to a hostname that doesn't
have a published A record to resolve it, you'll get this problem.
1. Epiphany goes "Hi there local network, any web sites out there?"
2. Avahi says "Yes! One
Had the same problem running 32-bit Ubuntu on a dv6000 - actually a
dv6105ca, AMD Turion64 X2 TL-64. Switched to 64-bit Ubuntu and
everything works perfectly, including the native wireless driver, ACPI,
sleep, hibernate, NVidia drivers, etc. Try using amd64 Ubuntu and see if
it helps you.
