I did a little bit of research on the Razer Core Chroma usb card.
This card uses 3 ASM1142 pcie to usb bridges (let's call them IC_0,
IC_1, IC_2) and the PCIe 4x connector is wired in a non-standard way.

Upon pressing F2 to rename a file, if delete one of the characters and replace
it with the same character, but a different case, and you click rename, the
changes should save.
Instead they get discarded
E.g. renaming foo.c

At present, I am not using that laptop at present, since I bought a new

A couple of weeks ago, I tried to do a suggested upgrade (via update-manager)
from 3.5.0.-27 #46, but rather than
installing just the latest kernel, it filled up my /boot partition and depmod
thrashed for a ridiculously long time.

That indeed fixed the problem. I updated to the latest hal-info,
replaced 10-modem.fdi, and my 3G card is now recognized, with the added

I can confirm that /lib/udev/set_hwclock is problematic. My gutsy domU
took forever to boot, and when it did, top showed hwclock hogging the
CPU. I removed execute permissions on /lib/udev/set_hwclock and now it
boots quite snappily.
