I have installed Ubuntu 9.10 with 2.6.31-14-generic Kernel.
Still the cooling fan is not working. With the Omnibook-Modul compiled
to the Kernel, i'm able to turn on/off the fan manualy.
BUT: sometimes, reaching some (not really logical) temperatures, ACPI
turns the fan OFF. Now i can now turn th
PS. Ibex Alpha 4 LiveCD crashes (sometimes shutdown, sometimes silent
death during boot) probably doe to bug 89892 (omnibook freeze during
boot). I'll try this also...

Rename intel-rng.ko to intel-rng.ko.bak, so the system can't found it during
boot. Location of this file: /lib/modules/(used

You have to do this every time you install or update the Kernel, because
the system rewrite a new file. After update the Kernel,
I tryed some further things:
I have reinstalled Ubuntu 7.10 with 2.6.22-14 generic Kernel and the fan
worked. But then: after installing al the updates for Gutsy, the fan was
not working after reboot. Then i've installed then the Omnibook module
and was able to control the fan manually.

I had a similar Problem with an IBM Netvista (8405 ?) and Feisty.
Finally it was the original IBM Powersupply, witch was to weak with only
240W or so (but runned without Problems on Windows XP). After i have
changed the Supply with a stronger one, the PC never freezed again...

I have just updatet from Ubuntu 7.10 to 8.04 with Kernel 2.6.24-16-386.
Once finished, during boot, the system shuts down every time.
I had to rename intel-rng.ko.off back to intel-rng.ko (the filename was
taken directly during update)
