When I install pychess on Ubuntu 20.04, nothing happens.
Looking in the taskbar, I see that it seems to be started, but no GUI is
showing up.
I can end it over the right click on the icon in the taskbar, but nothing else.
If I start PyChess over the command line, it starts

PyChess is one of the few chess programs in Ubuntu, who can use the most
sophisticated and strong chess engines, like Stockfish for example. This engine
uses every last drop of resources it can use, but its capabilities are beyond
those of almost any grandmaster.

Its true, a very easy workaround is to install the fonts-symbola package:
sudo apt-get install fonts-symbola
Afterwards, all works fine.
+1 to the suggestion of bugrasan, to just add a dependency to the fonts-
symbola package (looks better anyways)

Only want to remark that IBM Thinkpad - specific stuff do NOT work on
the Lenovo 3000 N100. It is a different product line.
So telling people to try the same as someone would do it on the IBM, for
example using IBM_acpi, will not work in almost 90%!
