I can actually fully use steam, I am running 14.04 Desktop and I just
get this error on boot for some reason but I can confirm the application
does work for me.

OK, given the problem was in cdparanoiasrc, and given that cdparanoia
worked fine (3.10.2+debian-8), I tried rebuilding gstreamer0.10-plugins-
base against that version of cdparanoia-dev (btw, seems the build-
depends are pointing at incorrect package names for the gir
dependencies)...
et voila,
OK, so I ran the gst-launch command:
gst-launch cdparanoiasrc track=7 \! fakesink
with GST_DEBUG=4 and GST_DEBUG_NO_COLOR set.
I add the logfile produced (until the first scsi_read error).
The track listing looks odd (there are 13 tracks in reality, not 272).

Got further... looks like the brasero & sj bits are ok. The extraction
uses a gstreamer pipeline that starts like:
gst-launch uridecodebin uri=cdda://7 ! fakesink
Running this does gst-launch does reproduce the scsi_read errors. I
don't know how to be absolutely sure, but I bet that the URI us

I ran sound-juicer with brasero-media-debug on and attached the stdout &
stderr.
On this CD, it extracts tracks 1 - 6, and on track 7, it begins to print
the scsi_read errors (and never gets past extracting track 7). Asking
for negative sectors sure seems fishy. Not sure if it's sound-juicer or
