Gimp seems to be causing lots of problems. Right now unity-panel-
service is sitting at around 343 MB (it was in the 200s a few minutes
ago after running gimp for a little while, but re-opening it increased
the memory by about 100MB). It seems whenever the menu is accessed it
increases memory usa

I agree. Today infact I thought for a moment that unity was
unresponsive since my currently running application went grey, and going
over to the launcher gave no response leaving me thinking for a moment
that I had to Ctrl+Alt+Backspace. I think the simplest way would be to

Anyhow, I did discover a way to fix the problem, and it is by simply
deleting/renaming .local/share/zeitgeist . I'll see if it crawls it's
way back up though. For now though, zeitgeitst-fts is only using around
6 mb of ram :D

I believe I am affected by this bug. On my system (12.04) my zeitgeist
daemon is typically very low (< 5MB), whereas with zeitgeist-fts, after
a search in the dash for documents it instantly skyrockets to over 100MB
memory.

I can confirm that this is still occurring on Ubuntu 11.04. I think

considering it has been around forever, and seems to affect a large

I've also experienced very slow USB transfers, with CPU waiters piling
up. The odd thing is that USB-to-USB transfers go at about four times
the speed of HDD-to-USB transfers. On average I get 2MB/s from hard
drive to USB, and about 8MB/s copying between flash drives.

I have a dell 2700fp monitor, and a nv41 video card.
When I use the proprietary nvidia driver, I automatically get 1600x1200
resolution with no messing around needed. But with the free nv driver,
I can't get any higher than 1280x10
I tried manually setting a modeline (from someone else's successful
configuration of the same monitor with a different video card), and that didn't
work. I get the error message:
Panel size is 1280 x 1024
(II) NV(0): Not using default mode "1600x1200" (exceeds panel dimensions)
