I get this screen junk too in emacs. Ctrl-L makes it go away. GNU Emacs 22.1.1 (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, X toolkit, Xaw3d scroll bars) of 2007-11-06 on king, modified by Ubuntu I've attached my xorg log.
