Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nv

I have a dell 2700fp monitor, and a nv41 video card.

When I use the proprietary nvidia driver, I automatically get 1600x1200
resolution with no messing around needed. But with the free nv driver,
I can't get any higher than 1280x1024.

I tried manually setting a modeline (from someone else's successful
configuration of the same monitor with a different video card), and that didn't
work. I get the error message:
 Panel size is 1280 x 1024
(II) NV(0): Not using default mode "1600x1200" (exceeds panel dimensions)

I will attach my configuration.

** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-nv (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
