This is a bug, in fact.
I use 72 dots per inch resolution. So when I open a word/excel document in
OpenOffice it looks smaller than it should be than it should be. Everything
becomes unreadable at 100% zoom
I've created a patch which doesn't change glyph geometry when
emboldening fonts. Though I don't know if chinese letters will still be
rendered correctly.

Public bug reported:
the patch kubuntu_09_use_ft_glyph_embolden_to_fake_bold breaks monospace
fonts. It makes the resulting text consume more width and as a result
text is cut in the konsole, for example.

I've installed plasma-widget-network-manager from jaunty-proposed.
Works fine in both auto-connect and reconnect (when you turn off wifi by button
on your notebook, for example) cases.

Sorry, my bad. Misunderstood you a bit.
Well, the hardy's gnome-terminal is the same version as it was when the bug was
reported. Obviously, it is not fixed.

I forgot to mention that this issue appeared in qt 4.4. While I had hardy with
qt 4.3, there were no problems with window/icon redrawing.
Someone have similar issues with compiz and qt4:

I have an issue with qt4 apps. They sometimes stop redraw their windows. I've
also had this issue in hardy.
I have compiz + nvidia card (with drivers).
Also, there is a problem with tray icons of qt4 apps (their contents gets
overlapped with other tray icons).
Without compiz, qt4 apps work norma

I can confirm the bug. I've noticed that after upgrading to intrepid there is
no burn/beam minimize effects in "animations" plugin. Though the effects
settings were dropped to defaults automatically in my case.
I suppose your error output is related to this issue.
