Well, Kubuntu 8.10 was so buggy that I made the move to 9.04 - it couldn't be
worst - and I am happier. I recommend everyone with Kubuntu 8.10 and the use of
KDE4 to upgrade. 9.04 was much more stable. Kubuntu 8.10 is the worst release

I have the same problem, but with the KDE Network Manager Plasma Widget.
The Card is definitely detected by Networkmanager and even by the widget
itself (hovering over it shows "ttyUSB0 Not connected"), but "mobile
broadband is greyed out and the card is not shown in the list of active
devices.
Steve, as Aurélien said, this is something the design team needs to
think about. Aurélien just shared his implementation and it is not
decided that this is going to be the actual behavior.

Here's another data point, from reproducing it again in xev. If I have
numlock on, the key state includes the 0x10 bit for all key up and key
down events, except for the extra keys. So it isn't just losing
ctrl/alt/shift modifiers, it seems to be losing all the state bits.

I can confirm in a gnome session. I have upgraded from the previous
versions and whenever I log out and log back in, I am unable to launch
any X windows with sudo.
After I run xhost + it will work.

28-13 was not in Proposed yet so I tried 28-12 and it crashed & burned
same way. One new thing I noticed that around 7.x (i.e. before crashing)
kernel complained about not being able to assign IO-APIC resources. This
message does not show up when booting succesfully with 27-11.

I am an android developer as well as an ubuntu developer and am working on
getting android apps integrated into gnome and ubuntu. I rely on
emdebian-tools and I unfortunately have to rely on debian instead of my
preferred os/ubuntu. This is my official request to get emdebian back on
ubuntu.

I have implemented the fix as described above and uploaded a fix set of
packages for jaunty to my PPA, please test them. (I only test built them
and tried the respawn locally, no real tests have been done so far)

What is the output of the 'route' command on your system? I have a similar
issue, and for whatever reason, there was no 'default' entry in the route
table. The short-term solution for me is to run
