conf file is /etc/ftpaccess (did anyone post that yet? i've been
slacking)
man ftpaccess should fill you in, but make sure 'anonymous' appears in the
'class' line.
it's ok in mdk6.1, although there was a file missing for telnet :P , which
could be a factor for your ftp prob, too.

Telnet works fine so is not an issue. I have included anonymous in the
class line in ftpaccess and now have a different error instead of just
"login failed", I now get:

Thank you very much. No harm done, but it is a shock
to be called by someone else's name.

The taskbar is called kpanel. It should reside in the same place as the
kde bin's. If you can open kfm you can click "File/Run" and type in
kpanel to launch it. If it is not coming up automatically, you may need
to type in "usekde" at the command line or remove the .kde directory in
your home dir.

Ok, what you call the taskbar is probably called 'kpanel', which is
the big panel thing with the 'K' button, the desktop switching buttons,
and usually the task switching thing (the taskbar :) on top of it.

Heh, good try but this isn't right either :)
All .xinitrc should contain is 'exec startk

Hello,
I am trying to mount msdos on linux. I edited the fstab file to mount msdos.
Would anybody please let me know if the "noauto" should be "auto" or
something else? Also should the last set of numbers be 0 0 or 1 1?
Thanks

It should not be noauto (i.e. leave it out) if the media is always there, like
a Windows disk partition, and you want it mounted at boot time. If it's
something like a floppy, "noauto" would be reasonable
Where can we find specifics on this UCITA (or what are some specifics)?
Maybe I'm just a lamer, but I've never heard a word about it. I guess I
don't keep up with the layer-isms (no offense) :o)
... and, I suppose, why is it a "threat" (or a non-threat as the opinion
may be) to the GPL/OSS/free s

It seems to work really well for longer documents, and I like
the word processing aspect of it more than Emacs, when marking
up text -- it's much closer to WYSIWYG, I guess.

Hi, everyone,
This probably need to migrate to issues, but...
I think I need to point out that Adobe is one of the companies funding the
lobbying in favor of UCITA. I don't often agree with RMS, but he is 100%
correct when he calls UCITA the greatest threat to Free / Open Source
software today.
