I run one these "ASUS RT-AC66U Dual-Band Wireless-AC1750 Gigabit Router"
DD-WRT is on it. It works very well. I did look at running OpenWRT on it, but
could not find drivers at the time.
I run a different box for my firewall, but if that ever fails I would
the latest Wi-Fi hardware and is designed for opensource use.
