Wow, I just looked at the web site and the Unifi AP is $200 for three,
but it's 2.4Ghz 802.11n only. The dual band ones are more like $200
each. Wow...

I recently picked up another WNDR3700 (v1, to supplant my v2) for free
and it will be running dd-wrt in a bit once I get some time to
configure it properly. Then I'll setup my home guest network as well.
Dual radios for both 2.4 and 5ghz, four GigE ports plus a WAN port so
you can run it as a router.

They do look nice, esp the PoE part. I just wish they weren't so
expensive!

I'm also running a PC Engines (pcengines.ch) WRAP AP board at home
with m0n0wall (http://m0n0.ch) as my main firewall router. I prefer
it to dd-wrt honestly. The only problem is that the boards run quite
warm in the default pc-engines enclosure.

I like having a seperate firewall from my APs because if one goes
down, I can make the other one work quickly in a pinch. And since the
wife doesn't care about the network as long as her PC works and
Netflix can stream... I can do what I want.

Another Wifi router that works well is the ASUS RT-N66U, which is also
dual radio router. The wiki is a bit out of date, but it looks like
it should support dd-wrt right out of the box.
