The intent was to show the full word and only indicate that it was originally shown in nomina sacra. Thus, if there is a way, it would be better to show the whole word and merely note that it was nomina sacra in some attribute. There are are sometimes more than one form of nomina sacra abbrevia

Preserving the RING ABOVE symbol might be made compatible with a front-end display option by making use of the OSIS note element. ˚Θεοῦ Note markers can also be preserved by using thenattribute on thenoteelement but that is not recommended. (From theOSIS User Manualsection 8.5.3. Note Markers )

Thanks, Alan, for the explanation. This then prompts a suggestion as to the potential use of the OSIS abbr element for each instance. This would require that each type of nomina sacrum would then need to be retained as the abbreviation, and then expanded using the XML attribute, e.g. ΘΥ Pleas
