[SAtalk] Scores not being assigned?

I emailed this out Friday and haven't seen any replies. Not sure if it was missed, but I'd appreciate any help anyone can give. This problem seems to be afflicting one specific users for some issue. The user in question is [EMAIL PROTECTED] - maybe the hyphen is screwing things up? I have no ide

[SAtalk] Strange Headers - no score assigned

2004-01-23 Thread James Herschel
Hi All, I have a (hopefully) unique problem where it appears that a small percentage of the email coming in are not being assigned a score. In fact, the headers look messed up. I've been running SpamAssassin for a 150 user company for some time now with great results. The system runs on: Qmail-

[SAtalk] Forged From addresses and whitelist rule

2003-10-20 Thread James Herschel
Hello, I've got an odd situation where I've received spam from a (forged) valid address in my own domain. Problem is that the headers are clearly forged as the IP for my mailserver is incorrect, but the whitelist rule for my domain is being applied. Is there a setting where I can tell spamassass

[SAtalk] Auto Whitelist assistance?

2003-10-15 Thread James Herschel
Hello, I've received a few spams where the AWL has assigned a large negative score. I've attached the headers from a spam I received today "Kobe's Court" (haha). The email address that this came from and went to are, to me, pretty obvious indications of spam which is why I'm having trouble under

[SAtalk] Feeding the Bayesian - AWL getting in the way

2003-10-10 Thread James Herschel
Hello All, I'm trying to have a select group of users feed the Bayesian db using the same technique outlined in the SpamAssassin FAQ. (http://spamassassin.taint.org/faq/index.cgi?req=show&file=faq05.001.htp). Problem I'm having is that everyone bouncing these emails to the spam mailbox is in the

[SAtalk] No X-Spam-Report for ham?

2003-09-18 Thread James Herschel
Hi all, Trying searching the archives and Google for this, but I can't see a way to force a breakdown for ham. The X-Spam-Report works great for spam, but I'd like a breakdown for ham so I can see which rules are getting hit and/or need to be tweaked. Is there a way to do this? - James

[SAtalk] Tagging MAILER-DAEMON's

2003-09-15 Thread James Herschel
Hiya, I'm trying to figure out the best way to tag MAILER-DAEMON double-bounces. We run a few web/mail servers here and they get hammered pretty hard. My AWL and Bayes tests are bringing the score down a lot, which has forced me to make a custom rule that assigns a higher score to the MAILER_DAEM

Thanks for the input ... gives me a better understanding of the implications ... I tried to grep for MSG_ID in the cf files and could not find anything ... this could be a useful rule to incorporate I think as it was blocking A LOT of spam for us. James Herschel -Original Message- From

[SAtalk] Is no message-id header a good measure of spam?

We've got two mail servers in place right now - one is my spam gateway with spamassassin that is running with a small group of test users, and the other is the primary email server running Eudora Interent Mail Server (yuck). A colleague of mine put a bunch of filters on the EIMS server, which incl

Hello, I've been training the Bayesian filter for some time now and I watch it get called upon in /var/log/maillog. Problem is that it doesn't look like it is adding to my spam scores. I have "use_bayes 1" turned on in my config file and run sa-learn nightly on spam and ham mailboxes I've set up.
