Thanks for the input ... gives me a better understanding of the implications ...
I tried to grep for MSG_ID in the cf files and could not find anything ... this could be a useful rule to incorporate I think as it was blocking A LOT of spam for us. Is the lack of a message-id header an accurate measure of spam? > 2. Is this a rule in SpamAssassin? I haven't seen it in any reports The Message-Id is an optional field. From what I have seen from posts over the last week or so, there is legitimate mail that does not send a Messgage-ID. There is also a large number of messages that do not have a Message-Id. Most MTAs will add a Message-Id if one does not exist. Is it accurate? If by that you mean you might see more spam without a Message-Id than with one, then the answer is probably yes. Might you get FPs? Yes. My MTA (relay - no local accounts) addes a Message-Id of one does not exist. I created a custom rule to look for Message-Ids created by my relay and give it points. This rule may not work well if users were sending mail through the mailserver. In my specific configuration I have been very successful looking for Message-Ids created by my gateway. Success is very dependent on your setup and environment. --Larry ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Spamassassin-talk mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/spamassassin-talk
