Make sure that you don't have the binary version of sane delivered with
Mandrake still on your system (e.g. /usr/lib/sane should be empty/not

I'm not sure but I think there was a problem with the combination of
ide-scsi and sane. If you can, try to disable ide-scsi and try again.
I don't know why this happens.

I'm trying to make work my snapscan 310 (with the AVA-1505AE SCSI controler
on ISA card).
At this point the scanner is recognized by sane-find-scanner program but it
is not by scanimage or xscanimage.
Maybe it's a bug or maybe it's a config problem, i don't know.
