The patch doesn't appear to be making much of a difference one way or
the other. Instead, it would appear the kernel developers may have
fixed whatever was broken with USB 3.0 support somewhere between 4.1.12
and 4.3.3.

(If it makes a difference, I'm running Gentoo's latest stable kernel,
which is based on 4.1.12. Kernel versions up to 4.3.3 are available

Here is the entry I added for my MFC6800 Brother multi-function device
(scanner/copier/printer) for use with SANE.
Note that the Brother web site recommends adding an entry with NO
product ID, just the vendor ID. Would this be a catch-all way of
getting all brother scanners safely?
Also, the d

backend for this scanner a little quicker let me know. Thanks.

OK,
I'm playing with network scanning. I have a Linksys NSLU2 running Unslung

I recently purchased an epson 2580. Machines works fine with win2k. On
same hardware (dual-boot PC) i'm not having much luck with it under linux.
I have actually managed to get a couple of scans out of it, but i don't
seem to be able to do that any more. Previews in xsane have never

Also, using the configure option --prefix=/usr will likely yield the
same result. use like this:
./configure --prefix=/usr
then 'make install' will use /usr and not /usr/local

There is a lot of documentation out there for this, it's just a matter

but figuring that 0.91 is the current release, and at the time of THAT

If i run xsane as root user, closing xsane turns of the scanners lamp.
If i run as a non-root user, the lamps stays one when closing xsane.
After closing xsane, lamp can still be on 5-10 minutes later.
Work around is to stop xsane, start it again (which turns off lamp) and
then stop xsane.

Has anyone tried the HP 3570c scanner? I can't find it listed on any

its pretty much the same as the 3500c, but with transparency support,
so if anyone has tried the 3500c I'd like to hear about that too.
