Fedora Core 2 is using a 2.6.x kernel, which does no longer support
the scanner kernel module. You need to use libusb (which is installed).
What you need to do in order to make this scanner work is add this line
to the /etc/sane.d/epson.conf file:
usb

I am running Fedora Core 2. After trying all of the (similar)
installation instructions that I found in various places, I still get
the following when I run /sbin/modprobe scanner vendor=0x04b8
product0x011b
FATAL: Module scanner not found.
I have the following in /etc/modprob
I was just curious as to whether or not someone is working on the hp 3970

one question - have you tried the transparency adapter ? When I choose this to
scan with I got a lot of errors like "broken pipe" and the scannner is making
some really strange noises. I'm not sure if the problem is only available on my
system - so can you try on your system, please
