You may want to try typing at Lilo:

Examine your boot logs to see if this worked and try the CD Writer.
If all goes well, add this as append=" blah" to lilo.conf and run

I've just seen a posting from VA Linux, indicating the availability of
"VA-Enhanced Red Hat Linux 6.2 http://www.valinux.com/software/
Looks like they've added some current Power Tools, the kernel update
and some other updates. Am I missing something or is this not worth
the bother?

I've just this afternoon upgraded to Sawfish (nee Sawmill) 0.27.2 I
note two things:
The new release seems dramatically faster with Netscape. Also, when
Netscape opens, it now is fully maximized, something I could never get
0.24 to do.
Second thing is the addition of window manager sound. I'm
Two. First, to prevent core dumps, put ulimit -c 10 in your
/etc/profile. This will limit the size of core dumps to whatever
number you specify, e.g. 10
Second, Gnome (on my machine) leaves old files (I think they are lock
files) laying around my ~/.gnome directory. They look like

I've always gotten this message if I open more than one instance of
Netscape in an account. I'd thought this was normal behavior.
Have you gone through you user accounts to be sure there aren't any
stale lock files laying about?

When I run the Helix-Gnome installer, I get a message saying I have
insufficient disk space and that I should free up 43.6 Meg. However,
I get a dialog box which will allow me to continue.
My df shows:

Have you looked at the manufacturer's wed site? Dell, from whom I
bought this machine, lists all that information there.

I have just first looked at a file in my /var/log directory, named
secure. It contains a few entries like this:
Jun 3 23:20:24 CV150607-A in.telnetd[1089]: connect from
199.224.86.36
Can someone tell me what this file is for and what this entry means?
Thanks.

Running 6.2, 2.2.14 kernel. I've loaded xsane, sane, libraries. I've
got an HP 1100A Printer newly installed, working fine as printer under
Linux, fine as printer/scanner under a legacy o/s ;)
I'm decent in Linux in general but completely new to scanning under

There is also an extensive Howto on kernel upgrade on the Redhat
Site. The update instructions, IMHO, are remiss in not pointing there.
