Many mfrs and experts say to grease the spindle. I have always done so
and torqued to Phil specs and have never had problems, ti or steel.

The AHH was advertised as 135 when I considered buying one. I was
surprised that GP moved away from the more versatile 132.5 of the
Rambouillet, which was "put to sleep" when the AHH was released.
Perhaps he thought the 135 fit the bikes image better. I didn't have

Totally non-scientific and just my own opinion. A few weeks ago
purchased a pair of Marathon Duremes in 700x40 for a non-Riv bike.
For comparison, have had a set of Supreme 700x40 on my Sam Hillborne
for most of the past year.
So having just a few hundred miles on the Dureme how do they feel and
I used a pair of 130 mm Shimano 105 hubs in a 135 spaced frame by
adding 2 mm of spacers to each side of the axle. No re-dishing was
needed, it worked fine. There's a bit less axle in the dropout but
that makes no difference, as Sheldon pointed out the wheel is held by
the locknut and skewer face

For those of you who have not seen one it's remarkable how thick and
hard the leather is on these things. About twice as thick as a B17
and no flex at all.

Thoughts on Cantilever versus V-brakes? I have a LHT with the Tektro
720s on it and I would not get them again. I feel they are difficult
to adjust and they are okay at stopping the bike.

Hillborne. I am going to squeeze fenders on the bike ,but I don't
know if I should purchase the SKS P50's or the SKS P55's. The P50's

When I recently built up my Bleriot (135mm) I used Velo Orange wheels
(130mm). I asked the mechanic at VO about the spacing and he said
that for a 5mm difference, I could just install the wheel and clamp it
down with the skewers. I was able to do this with no problem at all.

I rode uphill seated in a low gear, the front end wanted to go its own
way and not mine. The Herse (for example) is much better in this
regard without for all that being far worse on downhills.

I just did the Grizzly Peak Century on my Hillborne (roughly 8550 ft.
of climbing). Mine is a 60 cm frame, and I enjoy the ride the
Hillborne and that size frame give. There is a steep climb in Walnut
Creek/Alamo called Castle Crest Road you could try.

All of my bikes have drops.
2 have Nitto Noodles, which I really really love. I have 44's on one
and 46's on another. Originally I thought I would love the 46's, but
prefer the slightly narrower ones.
On another bike I have the Nitto Randonneur bars. These are really
comfortable and flare out a bit
I tried the narrow Nitto randonneur bars on my Saluki and didn't care
for the combination. I currently use the Grand Bois randonneur bars
on my Kogswell and like them a lot.

Yup I installed CutePDF (Free)
Then went into the link for the pdf.
Chose the print option and then chose the option for selected pages.
I entered in 1-46 and chose print. It spooled the pages to the print
spooler and then after sometime it allowed me to save the pdf.
CutePDF is a little odd but wo

my berthoud was hard but comfortable out of the box. besides a small amount
of brooks proofide on the underside to protect from drying out, butt-sweat +
miles is the only treatment that I use. no problems at all or need to
"break-in" the saddle
