Totally non-scientific and just my own opinion. A few weeks ago purchased a pair of Marathon Duremes in 700x40 for a non-Riv bike. For comparison, have had a set of Supreme 700x40 on my Sam Hillborne for most of the past year.
So having just a few hundred miles on the Dureme how do they feel and compare? Without taking into consideration the entirely different bikes, they ride like a dream. Feel like they are quicker to accelerate and seem to roll with less effort. Also seem more comfortable on bumps and potholes than the Supremes, even pumped up to close to the same pressure. As to size, also pretty close to the Supremes. Supremes are more truly round. ("Can you open your heart to the sound of the 5 string banjo - it's round") While the Dureme has a slight shoulder where the tread ends on the sidewall. Bear in mind the Duremes are about 80 grams heavier than the Supremes. As well has as having an actual tread. My working theory - the Duremes feel nicer because of the tread. Road vibration, feedback and maybe the hum of the tires makes me think they are faster. A purely mental issue. That said, I like the Duremes enough that the Hillborne will eventually get a pair. Maybe not this year, but when the present tires wear out. Eric Platt St. Paul, MN -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
